Guide to COP26 Climate Summit
El Nido Foundation, Inc. joins the International Coastal Clean-up and Scubasura
On September 18, 2021, the Local Government of El Nido spearheaded the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) 2021 and Scubasura activities in Natnat Beach-Cadlao Island.
Jose A. Alferez of the El Nido Foundation, Inc. joined the Scubasura team composed of Mr. Raffy G. Cabate (Municipal Administrator), Mr. Yoshiyuki Ohtsuka (El Dive), Mr. Christian Villamor (LGU-CRMO), and Mr. Steven John Andao and Mr. John Vincent Cuyo (Protected Area Management Office). The team collected garbage found underwater - the most common of which are ropes, plastics, bottles, empty sacks, and used face masks.
The activity was actively participated by the Philippine Institute of Environmental Planners-Palawan Chapter, the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO), El Nido Foundation, Inc. (ENFI), Malampaya Foundation, Inc. (MFI), Bacuit Scuba Divers Association (BSDA), Bacuit El Nido Travel and Tours Owners Association (BELTTOA), El Nido Pump boat Owners and Operators Association (ENPOOA) Dive Centers (Turtle Dives, El Dive) El Nido Tour Guides Association (ENTGA), APT Apartments, El Nido Chamber of Commerce Inc. (ENCCI), Lihim Resort, Bellita Tours, and the Philippine Coast Guard- El Nido.
The celebration of the International Coastal Clean-up Day is an annual event held every 3rd Saturday of September with this year's theme- "Understand and Beat Marine Pollution".
Regular clean-ups are done by various groups in El Nido aside from this annual event. Information, education, and communication campaigns are conducted regularly among residents and visitors of El Nido to try to minimize such indiscriminate disposal of waste in the waters that sustain the community
COTS Operation in El Nido
El Nido Foundation, Inc. participated in the Crown of Thorns Sea star (COTS) operation injection and manual collection conducted on July 8 and August 10, 2021. The activity was spearheaded by the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) in collaboration and active participation of the LGU-Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS), Malampaya Foundation, Inc. (MFI), Bacuit Scuba Divers Association (BSDA), Bacuit El Nido Travel and Tours Owners Association (BELTTOA), El Nido Pump boat Owners and Operators Association (ENPOOA), Dive Centers (Turtle Dives, Dive Sibatan, El Dive, Palawan Divers), El Nido Tour Guides Association (ENTGA), APT Apartments, El Nido Chamber of Commerce Inc. (ENCCI), Lihim Resort, Bellita Tours, Ipil Suites, and Philippine Coast Guard-El Nido.
On July 13, ENFI, with the support of volunteers, also initiated the same activity in the area of Tres Marias Coral Reef Restoration Project.

Local Climate Change Action Plan Review and Planning
El Nido Foundation facilitated the donation of workbooks and reference books to San Nicolas Elementary School in Barangay San Nicolas, Linapacan, Palawan in June 2018. Photo shows the Teacher-in-Charge and her Grade 2 pupils with the donated resource materials, sourced by ENF from Asia Foundation.
A total of 82 participants, all El Nido residents, successfully completed the Basic Ecotourguiding Skills Training conducted in three (3) batches at the ENF’s Community Learning Center in June, August, and October 2018. The training is a collaboration among El Nido Foundation, Municipal Tourism Office, and El Nido Tour Guides Association, utilizing the modules which ENF developed.
